Sleeping baby....and so long!

It's official...I'm pretty sure Abel inherited Ryan's length. I walked in his room last night and he was in this position sleeping. He is a 100% stomach sleeper and will not have anything to do with his back now that he has learned how to roll over. He's usually turned to the side in some way, but last night he was fully outstretched and looked so so long....and cute! It was a really hot night and he was exhausted. I don't think he moved most of the night (until a 4 o'clock wake-up of course). I know, pictures of sleeping babies might be kind of weird and am I really using a flash risking the fact he might wake up?... but really, I was more enthralled with how long he looked and had to capture the moment!

Cheerio-y-oh!

We got the go ahead to start giving Abel table food. One of the first suggestions was Cheerios. So now, Abel has a special box of Cheerios that we pull out and give just a few...we split them in half, and with help, he gets them in his mouth and sucks away. It's a totally new concept and I think he may be still a bit confused, but he seems to really like them! Feeding time is one of my favorites...it's especially fun to watch him as he communicates "More" and "I'm done". When he wants more he just sits there with his mouth open. When he's done, he either wails or puts his head down and to the side and then raises only his eyes to me. It's pretty funny....and I prefer the latter!

Elmo!

Ryan's parents have a friend who was able to procure one of the new TMX Elmos for Abel for Christmas. When we first got it, I'm pretty sure all the adults we showed it to enjoyed it way more that Abel did. However, he's now beginning to really interact with toys and so we reintroduced Elmo. He LOVED it. He laughed and reached out to Elmo and had all kinds of fun! I'm sure he's going to have HOURS of more fun with the giggling Elmo!

Happy Mother's Day (A Bit Early)!

We're going to be in Indianapolis this weekend, so Abel and I thought we'd wish Court an early Happy Mother's Day. You're the best mama ever!

Sixth Months

Happy 6 month birthday, Abel Bates!

Almost Outgrown

Abel is quickly outgrowing his carseat. Here are pictures of him when we took him home from the hospital, at three months, and today - his six month birthday.

Playdates!

This weekend was very social for the Flessners. Abel had two playdates. On Saturday, Brianne and Beth (teacher friends of Court) came over with their babies and husbands. On Sunday, we had a UW playdate. We went to Laura and Mark Paige's house so Abel could spend time with their daughter - Madeleine - and Christine and Peter Thompson's daughter, Sadie. Unfortunately, we forgot the camera on that date. However, you can trust us that Abel was full of smiles as he played with all of his pals.

Johnny Jumpster

Our friend, Tori, gave us this Johnny Jumpster as a shower gift. Abel loves to jump and play. Thanks Tori for the endless fun!

First Food

Abel's been eating solid food for a few weeks now, but we found these pictures and realized they hadn't been posted. In the photos, I'm explaining the different choices Abel has for his first food. As you can see, he chose peas! At this point, he's eating peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, bananas, and pears. Yum!
