Abel and the snow!

I posted below about my snowday and all of our fun playing. Here is just a cute cute shot of Abel in the snow!

Snowday!!!

Ok, Janesville NEVER calls off school and we've already had 3 snowdays this year and one already scheduled for tomorrow! J-town got 18 inches of snow today! We got slightly less, but it has been quite a winter. We bundled Abel up today and took him out to play. He LOVED the snow. He sat in it, ate it, slid down the HUGE piles from shoveling, laid in it...he couldn't get enough. It was blowing in all our faces and it didn't even phase him! Here are some shots we got that are some favorites!

Gymnastics Part II

Ryan has continued the tradition of taking Abel to The Little Gym every Tuesday morning. They really have a great time. Ryan calls and brags to me that Abes is the "example child" quite often. :) Miss Cindy is a big fan of Abel's (ummm who's not???) This week, Abel even got a compliment from Miss Cindy for pointing his toes while he walked across the beam (genes baby, genes! Ryan told Miss Cindy that the beam was my specialty in high school!) Anyway, they do all kinds of things: the parachute, group activities, forward rolls (on the floor and the beam) playing with the balls (apparently Abel has gotten very good at helping put them away) and exploring with the bubbles. My mom went with them this week and took some great shots. Here are some to share!

Abel's Pullover

I remember learning how to do a pullover at gymnastics. It took some serious ab muscles and wasn't the easiest thing. At The Little Gym, they teach you how to spot the kids in doing a pullover. It's really pretty unbelievable! Here is a sequence of Abes doing his pullover! (Thanks Grandma Peggy for the great shots!)

Happy Birthday Daddy in the Dells!

Ryan's birthday was last weekend (I totally slacked on posting on his birthday). We met my cousin and her family (she also has a one year old) at The Wilderness Resort in the Dells. Ryan and I have heard more about the Dells from our students over the years and it was about time we went! We thought Abel might like the water because he LOVES baths. It took a little bit of warming up for him and then he LOVED it. He went down lots of slides with Daddy and even had a HUGE bucket of water dumped on his head (see the picture - Ryan's holding him under the big splash). The first time the water splashed on him, he was a little unsure. The second time he turned around, looked at me, smiled, and starting signing and saying "More! More!" Ryan had a ball too. The "grown-up" slides are pretty intense...I was bummed I couldn't partake due to baby baking, but next time for sure! It was a really fun day! So Happy Belated Birthday Daddy!

Legos!

Legos are a HUGE hit at our house....not just for Abel, but pretty much for anyone who comes and visits (Wrigley seems to love them too!). Everyone tries to make something interesting out of them and Abel just sits in the middle of it all either adding a piece here and there or trying to take apart what you are working on. Anyway, here are some photos that we've snapped this month.

2008: New year, new job, new baby, new house, new president....

Wow! It's going to be a great year!!!! Ryan has accepted a job as Assistant Professor in Math Education in Indianapolis at Indiana University's School of Education at IUPUI, we're expecting a new baby in June, and we're FINALLY going to elect a new president into the White House. :) The next 6 months are going to prove to be the busiest months probably ever in our lives, but by the time summer ends, we'll be a family of 4 in a new location! So Happy New Year to you all, and cheers to a fantastic 2008!
